LG hasn’t been quite in sync with other Android vendors with Android 9 Pie updates. The Korean company has yet to make a mark in updating its handsets to Pie in the U.S., but it seems T-Mobile users of the LG V40 ThinQ will be out of this nightmare pretty soon.
The carrier has updated the LG V40 software support page to indicate that Android Pie has now entered the testing phase. This is the final stage before the OS is cleared for release, which suggests that the rollout could happen in the next couple or so weeks.
LG recently rolled out Pie to the V35 ThinQ, but this was limited to Korea. In the U.S., there are still no signs of the OS on this device, but with T-Mobile giving us some hope, it’s likely that things could begin changing in the coming weeks.
It’s worth noting that the V40 ThinQ is also expected to receive an update to Android Q, but for sure, with the way things are, it could arrive in late 2020. On the brighter side, the fact that LG has the G8 ThinQ taking part in Q beta testing could hasten things for other LG flagship phones.

Makes me hopeful for the V30, too.
