Samsung is gearing up to breathe new life into its 2017 rugged tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active 2.
Several versions of the device, all running Android 8.0 Oreo have recently been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance. Which means, the new update is just around the corner. The listings are for model numbers SM-T390 (Wi-Fi), SM-T395 (LTE), SM-T395N (LTE) and SM-T395C.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 2 was introduced last year in November and comes with a rugged body and a companion stylus. The slate shipped out with Android 7.1.1 Nougat out of the box, and now one year later it will finally receive its first big update.
With Android 8.0 Oreo on board, owners of the Galaxy Tab Active 2 will be able to take advantage of features such as: Picture-in-Picture, Password Autofill, Notification dots, smart text selection and lots more.
But while the tablet will soon be getting the bump up to Oreo, we’re not inclined to believe the device is eligible for the next Android 9.0 Pie update. Samsung has yet to provide the world with an official list of devices that will get the Pie so we can only speculate at this point. But who knows, maybe Samsung will surprise us and Galaxy Tab Active 2 owners alike.
