Samsung has already released its official Android 9 Pie update roadmap and we know the list isn’t final. We expect the list to grow bigger, but we still don’t know if the Galaxy A3 2016 and Galaxy A7 2016 will get a spot.
Until then, we will have lots of speculations to deal with. For instance, in a pair of new developments, benchmarking platform Geekbench has received both the A3 2016 and A7 2016 running Android 9 Pie.
This could mean one of two things: either Samsung is already testing Pie on the duo or this is just a custom ROM based on Pie. At this point in time, we are likely to be more inclined to pick the latter case.
We say this because typically, we’ve seen Samsung push at least two OS upgrades to the Galaxy A devices. Given that the A3 2016 and A7 2016 both come preinstalled with Android Lollipop and are currently on Nougat, they are past their software support window.
In fact, the duo never even got close to Android Oreo, so it just doesn’t sound legit that Samsung would be working on an official Android Pie update for the two. Still, we don’t make the rules, so we can’t rule out any major surprises as well, but until then, take this news with a huge pinch of salt.
