The Xcover series isn’t that popular in Samsung’s line of Galaxy phones, but this hasn’t given the company a reason not to keep the latest model, the Galaxy Xcover 4, up to date with regular software updates.

As of this writing, the Galaxy Xcover 4 is now on the receiving end of an update to Android 8.1 Oreo. This version of the OS has been arriving on Sammy devices ever since the launch of the Galaxy Note 9 that comes preinstalled with this OS. On the Xcover 4, it comes as software version G390FXXU2BRH3 or G390YDXU2BRH7, depending on your model. Both updates, though, carry the same contents, including a newt Android security patch for the month of August 2018.

The Oreo 8.1 update to the Xcover 4 comes after a similar update arrived on the Galaxy J7 Pop, otherwise known as Galaxy J7 Prime or Galaxy J7 2017 in the U.S., but so far it has only been spotted in some European and Asian markets such as Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, and Malaysia. Of course, this also means that other regions will join in sooner than later.

Like any other OTA update, it will take some days before the Oreo 8.1 update arrives on all units of the Galaxy Xcover 4, but you can try rushing the update via the Settings menu.
