Although it’s just a week away from today, Google’s October 29th event can’t come soon enough. While there have been wild as well as not so wild speculations and guesses about what’s in store, nothing has really been confirmed or even mentioned with any solid conviction insofar. However, The Next Web seems to have been busy tapping into its network over the weekend. A source, who has knowledge of what Google is up to on the 29th, has bared it all, almost, to The Next Web. And here’s your leak fix for the beginning of the week – Confirmation of some of the new features that would be included with Android 4.2, the next version of Android Jelly Bean OS
Tablet Sharing or Multi-user support
Google will implement Tablet-Sharing in 4.2, which essentially allows for different user profiles to be created on a single device. Much like on a Windows PC, but with the added ability to allow permissions even on a per-app basis for each user, as well as passcode based parental control over Play Store downloads. Parents can even control what apps their kids download via assigning censorship or rating based permissions. So folks like me, who are constantly worrying about what the kids may be downloading from the Play Store, can take a breather.
This feature would also be welcomed by enterprises, or businesses, which may want multiple employees to share a tablet, rather than assigning each employee a new one. This allows for more flexibility, and not to mention, downright cost savings to the business. Google is thinking real value now.
Content in the Center
Will allow users to access content from the Google Play Store, via a new, redesigned widget, rather than having to launch it every time.
While there are other features in Android 4.2, that have been spoken about and speculated upon, like changes to the notifications functionality and makeover to the Gallery and Camera apps, they haven’t really been confirmed yet. With October 29th still a week away, I am sure we will be hearing a lot more about what it will offer, before the curtains are raised on D-Day. Stay Tuned with us to know about what devices Google plans to unveil on Oct 29th.
