ZTE Blade V8 Pro update rolling out with October security patch and bug fixes

ZTE has just begun rolling out an update to the ZTE Blade V8 Pro devices with Android security patch level October 1, 2017. Sized at around 91 MB, the update also brings fix for the device crash issue caused by a recent update to Facebook app, plus general performance and software improvements.

The October security patch for the ZTE Blade V8 Pro also brings with it a fix for the recently discovered BlueBorne vulnerability which lets a hacker gain full control over your device just by getting in range of your device’s Bluetooth connection. It doesn’t even require a paired bluetooth connection to initiate a hack. Thankfully, Google released a fix for this vulnerability with September security patch and ZTE is now rolling it out to Blade V8 Pro with the October patch.

Notably, ZTE Blade V8 Pro is the first Android device to get the October security patch. Even the Google Pixel and Nexus devices are yet to receive the latest Android security patch.

ZTE is also expected to release Android 8.0 Oreo update to Blade V8 Pro and some of its other popular devices like the ZTE Axon 7. The Chinese manufacturer hasn’t provided an official statement yet on the availability of Oreo update for its devices, or even a list of devices which would get the update.
