Asus has finally started beta testing for Nougat, but it’s quite limited in enrollment right now. Only owners of the Zenfone 3 (ZE552KL) are eligible to apply for the update for now. This comes as no surprise, as Asus has a bad reputation for updating their smartphones. Zenfone 2 from last year is among the last ones of its generation of Android phones to receive Marshmallow update!
Hopefully the newer Zenfone 3 line of phones will finish beta testing by December end. If any brave Zenfone 3 owners are willing to risk a few bugs to get a taste of Android Nougat 7.0, head over here to register for the program.
If you don’t own the above mentioned variant of the Zenfone 3 or have a different phone and are wondering if your phone will get the update, check out our Nougat update list for Asus.
Competing OEMs have been working hard on getting the Nougat update out to their phones. LG seems to have beaten everyone else by releasing a stable build of Nougat for the G5. OnePlus would soon start beta testing for OnePlus 3 and 3T owners through the Nougat Community Build. Samsung too has released beta builds of Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge.
