YU Televentures launched the YU Yunique smartphone back in the year 2015. The company launched a handful of devices in that year and the YU Yunique happens to be one of them. Unlike the YU Yureka, Yunique is more of an entry-level smartphone. It mainly focused on offering a decent Android experience at a budget pricing.
Back in the days, the device was launched with Android 5.1 Lollipop and currently, as far as the new updates are concerned, the company is not really focusing on keeping it updated. But considering the fact that it is a fairly old device, we can’t expect any updates for the same.
On the other hand, if you are interested in getting a taste of the latest version of Android i.e. Oreo, then you probably have to go with a third-party custom ROM. And speaking of custom ROMs based on Android 8.0 Oreo, the new LineageOS 15 is a really good option.
Do make a note that this is not an official release and hence this build may have a few bugs. So if you are planning on flashing this ROM, then this is something which you need to consider.

How to Install the LineageOS 15 on YU Yunique
Note: You need to have TWRP recovery installed on your device for this. In case you do not have it, download the TWRP recovery for YU Yunique from here, and install it using the guide here.
- Download and transfer the Lineage OS ROM zip file and Gapps file that you downloaded above to your YU Yunique.
- Boot your smartphone into TWRP recovery.
- Select Wipe from TWRP main menu and do a Swipe to Factory Reset on the bottom of the screen. [Clean install is recommended, wipe everything except internal storage.]
- Go back to TWRP main menu, tap on Install and select the Lineage OS .zip file that you transferred to your YU Yunique in Step 1.
- After selecting the .zip file, do Swipe to Confirm Flash on the bottom of the screen to begin the custom ROM installation process. This may take some time.
- Once your ROM is successfully flashed, you’ll see Wipe cache/dalvik option, select it and then do Swipe to wipe on bottom of screen.
- Now, install the Gapps file the same way you installed the ROM file.
- After flashing both Lineage OS and Gapps, reboot your smartphone.
