Earlier today, Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro, and as expected, the two are attracting a lot of attention in the few markets they’ve been availed so far.

This is the kind of attention you’d expect devices succeeding the highly popular Redmi Note 4 handset to get. The two have one of the best designs in the budget category, featuring a near bezel-less aluminum build accompanied by top-notch specs for their price tags.

The Redmi Note 5 twins pack a solid hardware for their cost, and even though these two budget handsets come with Nougat pre-installed, they Oreo update is not a doubt and is expected to be released sometime in Q2 2018.

The fact that the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro already look like flagship phones right from the word go, has led to different reactions with some even asking whether the pair also comes with IP6X dust and water resistance certification.

Well, despite all the promise the two phones carry, you’ll be disappointed to know that the Redmi 5, Redmi Note 5 and Note 5 Pro are not waterproof. However, their price tags do allow them to miss out on such a feature, but you can always scout for a waterproof case to ensure you don’t end up with a dead device due to contact with water.
