Xiaomi recently released the 6.12.22 firmware update for the Mi MAX and Mi MAX Prime (Pro) devices with Android 6.0 base. And the company officials have today announced that it was the last firmware based on Marshmallow for the Mi MAX devices as development for Android 7.0 Nougat has begun.
Xiaomi is now working on Android 7.0 Nougat update for Mi Max and Mi Max Prime. The Nougat update will probably come with MIUI version 8.0 only, as that’s what the Chinese manufacturer has delivered so far with the Mi 5 Nougat beta releases.
Notably, Xiaomi also has MIUI 8.1 in the works. Leaked image of a Redmi Note 4X confirmed this among other details about the upcoming device from Xiaomi.
Xiaomi will officially release the Android 7.0 Nougat update to Mi 5 and Mi Mix users first. And then to the Mi 4c, Mi 4s, Mi Note Pro, Mi MAX and Mi MAX Pro devices.
