April 22, 2019: A huge update is rolling out to the Mi 8 Pro as MIUI 10.3.1.0.PECMIXM. On top of installing March 2019 security patches, the update has a lot of other stuff it brings along.

Below is the full changelog as provided by Xiaomi:

  • System
    • Updated Android Security patch to March 2019
  • Phone
    • Fixed issue with ending calls
    • Fixed issue where status bar shortcut and floating notification for calls appeared at the same time
  • App lock
    • Adds face unlock support
  • Lockscreen, Status bar, Notification shade
    • Adds NFC shortcut in the Notification shade
    • It’s now possible to stay on the Lock screen after using Face unlock
    • You can now restrict opening Notification shade on the Lock screen
    • The height of the status bar is now equal to the height of the notch
    • Optimized Face unlock efficiency
    • Fixed issues with LED light not blinking when the battery was low, low battery warning didn’t appear in landscape mode, Call-time bubble overlapped with notification icons, Face unlock prompts didn’t disappear on time, and Media playback volume couldn’t be restored after it was lowered by an incoming notification
  • Home screen
    • Fixed issue where Notification badges were displayed incorrectly on WhatsApp icon
  • Clock
    • Fixed issue where the Timer button started flashing after being tapped and Clock force-closed on some specific dates
  • Camera
    • New modes for AI camera
    • Fixed issue where the camera force-closed when the app was closed and opened again in the Video mode, and the user canceled making a photo using a shortcut in Messaging and then tapped the Camera shortcut again, Camera crashed
  • Settings
    • Fixed issue where Sync page couldn’t be refreshed whenever sync was turned on or off in the Notification shade
  • Recents
    • Fixed issue where app names were truncated when texts size was set to large
  • Game speed booster
    • Floating windows for incoming calls during games
  • Mi Cloud
    • We redesigned Mi Cloud’s start page. It looks much better now!
  • Other
    • Fixed issue where displaying items on the turned off screen couldn’t be turned off on time in some cases

January 22, 2019: After a few weeks of testing, Xiaomi has started rolling out the stable version of Android 9 Pie as MIUI 10.2.1.0.PECMIXM. Being a major update, the 10.2.1 OTA is heavy and needs a stable Wi-Fi connection to download, so be sure to connect your device to one.

Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro MIUI 10 update

Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro was expected to debut with MIUI 10 atop Android 8.1 Oreo, but it wasn’t the case. The device hoped onto the beta program on 23 November 2018 and a week later, the stable version started rolling out globally.

The stable version of Android 9 Pie started rolling out to the Mi 8 Pro on January 22, 2019. It took Xiaomi only a month to try and ready the OS for the device, which is pretty impressive.
