Xiaomi Mi 5s Plus gets stable MIUI 10 update based on Android 8.0 Oreo

MIUI 10 update Mi 5S Plus

A week ago, Xiaomi started rolling out the stable MIUI 10 update to the Mi 5s and today, a similar update is now available for users of the Mi 5s Plus.

The MIUI 10 update is targeting current users of the stable MIUI 9, where it is arriving over the air as version MIUI 10.1.3, but unlike the Mi 5s update that was based on Nougat, owners of the Mi 5s Plus are receiving a stable update that includes Android 8.0 Oreo. The Mi 5s has since received an update to Oreo 8.0, although it’s still beta software.

The Mi 5s Plus update comes as a surprise, especially after we thought the update to MIUI 10 beta 8.11.23 was one that came with Oreo to the device. The phone hasn’t gone through the usual beta testing process for the global variant, so we hope things will turn out to be just fine after the update.

The Oreo 8.0 update also bumps the Android security patch level to August 2018, which is pretty old considering some devices like the Honor 7X are already receiving December 2018 security patches.

As noted, the update is airborne, meaning it may take several days before all Mi 5s Plus units get the download notification, so be patient.

  1. I can download a developer rom, but I don´t know if it is going to have lots of bugs. Should I wait until the stable Rom or should I try the developer one?
    Thanks
