Business competition can lead to some of the most interesting decisions by companies looking to gain an edge over their rivals. This is what’s happened in India with respect to Xiaomi and OnePlus, where the former has recently aimed a dig at the latter’s OnePlus 6T launch in the country with their version of Big Shaq’s quick math.

Xiaomi took things a notch higher by offering potential OnePlus 6T buyers a calculator to help them “do the math” to establish which deal between the Poco F1 and 6T is a better value for money. The company even hijacked OnePlus’ “Never Settle” slogan on Twitter, arguing that you shouldn’t settle for the overpriced 6T when you can grab a certain Poco F1 that shares the same processor, RAM, has a bigger battery and a headphone jack for a much cheaper price tag.

No doubt that’s a good one. Well played, POCO India. However, what the company did was to deliberately fail to mention the many shortcomings of the Poco F1 when compared to OnePlus 6T. For instance, you get a low-quality LCD display whereas the 6T has an AMOLED panel; a cheap-looking plastic build compared to the premium glass build of the 6T; a gigantic notch that is easily outshone by the teardrop-style design on the 6T; a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner that looks way old compared to the in-display sensor used on the 6T.

The OnePlus 6T also comes with more storage on the base model, a much better camera, and runs the latest Android 9 Pie out of the box, among other things.

Do you agree with Poco India that the OnePlus 6T is overpriced?
