Apocalypse’s killer has not been officially revealed yet in Marvel Rivals; the Death of Apocalypse event currently has players solve linked murder cases, with Bucky Barnes identified for Wolverine and Loki identified for Psylocke.
Death of Apocalypse is a Season 9 deduction event built around the fallout from Apocalypse’s fall in Thebes. The mystery is bigger than one culprit: Wolverine, Psylocke, and Gambit are separate cases, and solving them is what pushes the story toward the final truth.
KEY!The important thing is not to mix up the case answers. Bucky Barnes is the answer to Death of Wolverine, and Loki is the answer to Death of Psylocke; neither is currently the revealed killer of Apocalypse.

Apocalypse’s killer status in Marvel Rivals

Apocalypse’s assassin is still unnamed in-game. Season 9 frames his death as the central mystery, but the available event cases are smaller murder investigations that feed into that larger reveal.
That means names floating around the community, including Gorr or Knull, should not be treated as the answer. Until the event itself names Apocalypse’s killer, the only usable answers are the ones tied to the opened cases.

Death of Apocalypse is not a match-grind event. You complete it from the event menu by reading case briefings, finding clue words in investigation scenes, and placing those words correctly on the deduction page.
Each case opens in sequence, and the event text makes the chain clear: solve the three murder puzzles to reach the final truth behind the deaths surrounding Apocalypse.
How to complete Death of Apocalypse cases
Open Events
Go to the Events menu and select the Death of Apocalypse banner.
Choose a case
Enter the active case, starting with Death of Wolverine and moving to later cases as they unlock.
Read the briefing
Check the case briefing first so the clue words make sense when you find them.
Investigate the scene
In Investigate, click every sparkle or anomaly on the case image.
Collect clue words
Keep searching until all usable words for the deduction page are unlocked.
Open Deduction
Switch to Deduction and place the collected words into the blanks.
Check missing words
If a blank has no usable answer, return to Investigate because you likely missed a tiny sparkle.
Finish the case
Submit the completed deduction to reveal that case’s truth and claim its rewards.
Click every sparkle before solving; most stuck deductions happen because one small anomaly on the investigation image was missed.
Death of Apocalypse case answers
| Case | Answer |
|---|---|
| Death of Wolverine | Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier |
| Death of Psylocke | Loki |
| Death of Gambit | Listed as part of the chain; the completed answer is not established here |
| Final Apocalypse killer | Not revealed yet |
Use the table as a separation check: the solved case killers are not automatically the Apocalypse killer. The event is structured so those answers build toward the final reveal instead of replacing it.
Death of Wolverine solution
For Death of Wolverine, the deduction identifies Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, as Wolverine’s killer. After you have collected every clue word from the investigation image, place the answers in this order:
- Bucky
- Hydra
- Murdered
- Family
- Wolverine
- Berserker Rage
- Host
- Mechanical Arm
- Tentacles
- Hive Cells
- Blood
- Healing Factor
If one of these terms is missing, do not keep guessing on the deduction page. Go back to Investigate, scan the image again, and click the remaining sparkle to unlock the missing word.
Death of Psylocke solution

The Death of Psylocke case points to Loki as Psylocke’s killer. The murder uses an illusion angle, with Magik being used as part of the framing.
Complete it the same way as Wolverine’s case: find every sparkle in the investigation scene, collect the clue words, then use the unlocked words on the deduction page. The central answer is Loki, so do not treat Magik’s presence in the setup as the final culprit.
Death of Gambit and the final truth
Death of Gambit is the third case in the Death of Apocalypse chain and is tied to the final reveal. Its unlock date is July 16, 2026, but the completed Gambit deduction and the Apocalypse killer are not established in this dossier.
Until the event itself resolves the chain, keep fan names separate from in-game answers. The final Apocalypse culprit is still the mystery the event is building toward.
Common Death of Apocalypse mistakes
Missing tiny sparkles
If Deduction does not show the word you need, return to Investigate and check the image for a small unclicked sparkle.
Grinding matches
This event is completed through the Death of Apocalypse menu, not by farming combat objectives.
Treating wrong guesses as progress
Incorrect deductions only mean a word was placed in the wrong blank, so use the clue text instead of forcing random terms.
