If you’re a Huawei smartphone user in Australia, there’s some good news for you today. Vodafone has announced that both the Huawei Mate 9 and P10 will be getting Android Pie 9.0 soon. While the testing for the Mate 9 is already in progress, beta testing for the P10 is scheduled to take place in the near future.
Our readers must’ve also noted that we didn’t find Huawei’s EMUI 9.0 to be as polished as other Android custom skins. Some users find Samsung’s One UI and even MIUI to be much better alternatives to EMUI. Most Android followers have stated that they would rather just purchase Huawei’s excellent hardware if it had Vanilla Android running on top of it.
As we had reported earlier, EMUI 9.0 beta with Android 9 Pie released for Huawei P10, P10 Plus, Mate 9, Mate 9 Pro, Nova 2S, Honor 9, V9, Note 10 around the world, albeit for carrier unlocked phones.
Today’s update from Vodafone Australia is pleasing because it is nice to see carrier locked phones also getting updates quickly and efficiently. We usually find that those phones that are carrier locked tend to get support ages after the unlocked versions. In many cases, users have to make do with 3-year old software even if the phone is capable of running the latest one.
We look forward to more positive work from carriers to keep their customers’ phones updated to the latest and greatest software.
