Verizon updates Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus with March 2019 security patches

Galaxy S9 Plus

Not an April’s fool joke, but Verizon has indeed released a new software update for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. Even though the big news of the day is Android Pie rollout for S8, S8 Plus and Note 8 sets in Canada, the security patches update is an important one, nonetheless.

Verizon had already placated customers with the release of Android Pie update on 30th of January. Verizon has been loyally updating their versions of the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ with the 9th update being the one to Android Pie 9.0.

This update, which is the 11th update released since the device’s launch, brings the security patch up to March 2019. The updates come as software version G960USQU4CSC7 for Galaxy S9 and G965USQU4CSC7 for the Galaxy S9+.

The CSC7 update is already available as an OTA — hence users should begin receiving the notification to update the aforementioned devices as we speak.

It is possible that you may have to wait for a couple of days or maybe even a week before the update rolls out for your device. This is because updates are released in batches to detect a bug in the early stages of the rollout itself, thus avoiding it spreading to all the users.

If you haven’t received an update notification, you can do it manually by going to Settings > System updates > Check for system updates. Wait for the device to check for available updates and if an update is available, tap on Download, then tap on Install once the update has been downloaded.
