Verizon updates Galaxy J7, Galaxy J3 and Moto Z with December patch, and some more

Samsung Galaxy J7, Galaxy J3, Moto Z updates

Verizon has new software updates for the Samsung Galaxy J7, Galaxy J3 and Moto Z Droid that install the latest Android security patch and improves the general system performance.

The Galaxy J7 V, which carries model number SM-J727V, is now receiving an update that installs software version J727VVRU1AQK4 on the standard version and build number J727VPPVRU1AQK4 on the prepaid model. Besides installing the December 2017 Android security patch, the update also brings fixes for the KRACK vulnerability on both Galaxy J7 variants alongside a couple of new features.

After the update, you’ll notice that a new LTE icon shows up in the top left corner when making HD Voice calls on LTE. The update also enables the device to notify users whenever it switches from a Wi-Fi to LTE connection during calls, even when the display screen is locked.

These are the same updates hitting the Samsung Galaxy J3 Eclipse and like the Galaxy J7 V, there are two updates: for the standard and prepaid models. Where the standard Galaxy J3 Eclipse is getting an update with software version J327VVRU1AQK4, the prepaid model is receiving an update with version number J327VPPVRU1AQK4.

As noted, the Moto Z Droid is also getting a similar update that installs the December Android security patch and KRACK fix. The update carries software version NDNS26.118-23-12-7 and like the others, it’s rolling out over the air. There aren’t any additional features the update brings to the Moto Z, but this doesn’t mean you ignore it.

If you can’t wait for the OTA notification, you might as well try a manual update via the trio’s Settings menu.
