The Verizon Pixel and Pixel XL devices are receiving an OTA update with September security patch. The update comes with software version and build number OPR3.170623.007 and Android security patch level 2017-09-01.

Apparently, Google isn’t first to release the September security patch as Nokia had already released the update to Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 earlier this month. But we gotta admit that Verizon is keeping up pretty great with timely updates to Google Pixel and Pixel XL. We’d love it if the carrier could show same love to other Android devices as well.

The September security update for Verizon Pixel and Pixel XL is rolling out over-the-air as we speak and you should receive an update notification very soon. However, if you’re not the one to wait, go ahead and force check for the update from your device’ Settings » System » System update » Check for update.

Also note that the OPR3.170623.007 update changelog only mentions an updated security patch. We know that carriers and OEMs don’t always mention everything they change/update with a new software update, but this is the first update after Google released Android 8.0 Oreo to Pixel devices, and if it only comes with a security patch update, than that probably leaves us with unfixed Oreo Bluetooth issues and battery drain problem.
