Verizon is rolling another Nougat update, and this time it’s a rugged we know of as Kyocera DuraForce PRO. In last two weeks, they have updated One M9 and Galaxy Tab E to Nougat OS too, besides releasing the same for Asus ZenPad Z10 about a month ago.

We would super-joyed by it, but as Nougat is more than a year old now, it only reminds us how lame the Android OS update thing is. The rollout that’s far more interesting it that of Oreo now, Google’s latest OS that comes as Android 8.0, which Verizon users could get on Galaxy S8 and LG G6 pretty soon. For more info and expected release date, check out these pages: Samsung Oreo update roadmap, and LG Oreo update roadmap.

Anyway, back to Kyocera DuraForce PRO and its Nougat update, Verizon also revealed in the changelog that the Nougat update, that is identified as software version 5.320VZ, also comes with August security patch.

The Android 7.0 update for your Kyocera DuraForce PRO gets you app icon shortcuts (see first screenshot above), Data saver, improved Settings app, easy quick Settings tiles in the notification drawer in expanded mode, Direct reply feature for messaging apps, easy switching to previous app by double tapping on Recents button twice, better Doze mode, etc. stuff, all of that makes the 7.0 update pretty exciting.

To download the Nougat update on your Kyocera DuraForce PRO, open the Settings app, then tap on About phone, and now System updates. Now, tap on the Check for new software update menu to force the device to look for an update. With luck, you till get Nougat. Otherwise, simply wait for Verizon to push it on your device, which shouldn’t take long now anyway.
