While the leading smartphones are gearing up to receive Android 10, many unfortunate devices are still waiting patiently to have a taste of Android 9.0 Pie. Most of us pin rollout delays on OEMs, but carriers also play a significant role in software releases. Carriers mold OEMs’ software updates as per their norms, which, more often than not, postpones the rollout.
After a long and excruciating wait, US telecom giant Verizon Wireless and European Union have finally started rolling out Android Pie for the LG G6.
The update brings all of Android 9.0 Pie’s standout features, such as Digital Wellbeing, improved permission control, ability to disable device sensors, and more. The Verizon release carries software version VS98830a and also brings the August 2019 security patch.
EU users, on the other hand, have been getting the same update with software version V30a-AUG-29-2019.
Verizon has only made the update available Over the Air (OTA), allowing you to download over Wi-Fi/LTE. EU subscribers can use LG Bridge to update their G6.
