Dress 2 Impress Veil of Darkness: Location, Quest Steps, and Claim

The Veil of Darkness is a quest-reward avatar item tied to Dress to Impress. Its pedestal sits in the game’s room on Floor 5 of The Hollow.

Completing the chapter and claiming the cosmetic are separate parts of earning the reward. This guide covers the Halloween quest’s boat journey, both island stops, and the final pedestal claim.

How to get the Veil of Darkness in Roblox The Hollow

Reach the Halloween Quest, start Chapter 1, complete the boat journey, and return to claim the veil.

Part 1 – Reach the Halloween Quest through Floor 5

Take the elevator to Floor 5

Enter the lobby elevator and open its floor-selection keypad. Select 5, wait for the doors to open at Floor 5, and exit into the corridor.

Enter the Dress to Impress room

Follow the corridor through the broken doorway into the grand circular room with glowing portals. Before heading to the portal, examine the dark silhouette above the pedestal to bring up its dialogue.

Enter the Dress to Impress portal

Approach the portal labeled Dress to Impress. The Teleport popup asks you to leave the hub for the game; select Let's go! to continue.

Join the Halloween Quest server

When asked whether you want to join the Halloween Quest Lobby server, select Yes. Let the teleport finish to reach the quest lobby. You briefly appear in a dressing room before the lobby loads, followed by a content warning on a dark screen before the cinematic.

Part 2 – Meet Lana and start Chapter 1

Speak to Lana in the ruined chamber

Descend the slope into the dark, ruined chamber. An arrow identifies Lana; approach her and speak with her to begin the quest conversation.

Follow the swamp paths to the docks

Take the wooden pathways through the misty swamp until you reach the docks. Approach the cloaked figure waiting there and listen to the dialogue before moving to a lobby platform.

Configure and start Chapter 1

Step onto an empty glowing platform beneath ENTER TO PLAY on the wooden dock. You can set the lobby’s maximum players to 1. In Configure Lobby, select Chapter 1 and press Start to begin the countdown.

Board the Ferryman’s boat

Wait for the countdown to finish. It transfers you onto the Ferryman’s boat, where the voyage begins.

Part 3 – Fuel and defend the boat through both island stops

Maintain the lantern and defend the boat

Listen to the Ferryman’s departure instructions. Chapter 1 has a boat-travel target of 180, and the deck urn holds up to 100 fuel. Take fuel from the urn and add it to the small lantern to keep its light burning. Use your paddle to strike approaching spirits while continuing to refuel. Keep this up until the fuel is exhausted and the boat docks; the Ferryman will direct you onto land for more fuel.

Search the first island for fuel orbs

Disembark at the first island’s landing and search its rocky paths and wooden walkways for glowing fuel orbs. Look among the hanging lanterns, where an orb sits, as you work through the collection objective.

Return to the boat and resume sailing

Cross the dock back onto the boat. Take fuel from the replenished urn and refill the lantern as the journey resumes, continuing to knock away approaching spirits with your paddle. A creature attacks during this leg, briefly blacking out the screen.

Gather fuel on the second island

At the next island, follow the Ferryman’s request for more fuel and disembark. Collect the required glowing orbs along the cliffs, then return aboard once the collection is finished.

Complete the final boat leg

Keep the lantern supplied with fuel and repel the attacking phantoms through the last stretch. The notification “We’re arriving at the soul field!” announces your destination; wait for the boat to dock there.

Part 4 – Finish Chapter 1 and claim the veil in The Hollow

Follow the wisps to the two spirits

Leave the boat at the soul field and follow the glowing green wisps along the woodland trail. Continue until you reach the two floating spirits.

Receive the Chapter 1 completion badges

Approach the spirits to finish the chapter. You’ll receive The Hollow 2024 first, followed by the Chapter 1 badge.

Return to The Hollow

Open the Roblox escape menu and select Return to "The Hollow" to travel back to the event hub.

Revisit the Floor 5 reward room

Enter the cinema lobby elevator and travel back to Floor 5. Head into the Dress to Impress room again to reach the reward pedestal.

Claim the Veil of Darkness

Approach the pedestal displaying the dark veil and use its Claim interaction by pressing E. This collects your quest reward.

The final reward banner reads AVATAR ITEM OBTAINED and names Veil of Darkness. That notification marks the finish: you’ve obtained the avatar item.
