QUICK ANSWER
In Patch 1.13, the Unyielding Hero armour set is a five-piece route: plate armour from the Chapter 6 boss, boots from the three-wagon artifact challenge, cloak from the three-hyena challenge, gloves from the cannon multi-kill challenge, and the helm from a back-alley vendor.

Patch 1.13.00 added the Unyielding Hero outfit as one of several new boss equipment sets, and it’s listed as a five-piece plate set. Pulling the whole thing together isn’t a single shopping trip — one piece drops from a Chapter 6 boss, three come from artifact challenges scattered around the map, and only the helm sits with a vendor. This guide covers all five: the armour, boots, cloak, gloves, and helm.

The five Unyielding Hero pieces added in Patch 1.13

The Unyielding Hero set is a full plate outfit modelled on a Chapter 6 boss, and it arrived with Patch 1.13 alongside several other boss armour sets. It breaks down into five pieces: the plate armour, boots, cloak, plate gloves, and plate helm.

KEY!The armour itself is tied to story progress, while the boots, cloak, and gloves each unlock from a standalone challenge you trigger by picking up an artifact out in the world. The helm is the odd one out — no challenge, just a hidden vendor. The whole set is dyeable, so it works as a cosmetic once you’ve assembled every piece.

Every set piece at a glance

Piece How to get it
Plate Armour Defeat the Chapter 6 boss in the mission “The Traitor”
Boots Artifact challenge — sell three wagons to the fence
Cloak Artifact challenge — defeat three hyenas without moving more than 20 m
Plate Gloves Artifact challenge — defeat five enemies at once with a cannon
Plate Helm Buy from the back-alley vendor in town

KEY!Read that top to bottom and the shape of the route is clear: one story unlock, three world challenges, and one purchase. The next section walks each challenge piece in the order the game hands them to you.

Here’s the full route to all five pieces in Patch 1.13, in the order the game hands them to you.

STEP 1/5

Clear the Chapter 6 boss for the plate armour

The plate armour is locked to the Chapter 6 mission “The Traitor” — beat the boss there and the piece unlocks.

STEP 2/5

Grab the artifact and start the boots challenge

Pick up the artifact at the little rock formation on the road, then sell three wagons to the fence to earn the boots.

STEP 3/5

Take the cloak challenge above Toscalp

Collect the artifact at the intersection above Toscalp; the challenge here is to defeat three hyenas without moving more than 20 m.

STEP 4/5

Run the cannon challenge for the gloves

Head toward the business access near Fort Windridge, just below Dun Heven, and defeat five enemies at once with a cannon.

STEP 5/5

Buy the plate helm from the back-alley vendor

The helm is the only piece with no challenge — grab it from the secret back-alley shop in town.

QUICK WIN

Claim each challenge reward manually from the Journal’s Challenges tab — finishing the objective doesn’t auto-equip the piece, and it can sit unclaimed in the log until you collect it.

Where to complete the three artifact challenges

Challenge Best place to complete it
Sell three wagons to the fence Ring road below Toscalp — wagons spawn there and a wagon-selling point is nearby
Defeat three hyenas without moving more than 20 m Hyena den below Toscalp, or the pack near the cloak artifact if the den is cleared
Defeat five enemies at once with a cannon Business access near Fort Windridge, below Dun Heven

The three challenge pieces all hinge on picking a good spot to finish the objective, because the tricky part is finding enough targets in one place. For the wagons, the easiest run is the slight ring road below Toscalp — plenty of wagons spawn along it, and there’s a wagon-selling point right there so you can offload all three to the fence without a long trek.

The hyenas give you two options. There’s a hyena den just below Toscalp, but if you’ve already cleared it, head to the pack of roughly four hyenas that spawns near where you grabbed the cloak artifact and do the challenge there instead. Just remember the 20 m limit — stand your ground and pull them to you rather than chasing. The cannon challenge is the fiddliest: line up five enemies in one blast near the business access by Fort Windridge, below Dun Heven, where they cluster tightly enough for a single shot to count.

Fixing missing pieces and vendor stock

If a piece never shows up, run through the basics first. You need Patch 1.13 installed for the set to exist at all, and the plate armour route only makes sense once you’ve pushed into Chapter 6 — that’s the story gate on the armour itself. Before that, there’s simply nothing to unlock.

The most common trap is finishing a challenge but never collecting it: open the Journal → Challenges tab and claim the reward manually, then check your inventory and camp chest, since the piece lands there rather than auto-equipping. For the helm, if the back-alley vendor’s stock looks empty, come back after you’ve made progress — stock can appear only once the relevant unlocks are done. Treat the helm as the one vendor piece; despite some community claims that the whole set is sold there, the reliable route only puts the helm behind that shop.

Not to be confused with other 1.13 boss sets

Patch 1.13 dropped several boss armour sets at once, so it’s easy to mix them up. Don’t confuse Unyielding Hero with Tarandus the Ashen, Knight of Carnage, Martial Monk, or the Grand General of Demeniss outfits — each has its own separate acquisition path. And while some notes float a six-piece count, the patch context and the actual route both land on the five pieces above.

Those other sets are worth chasing next once your Unyielding Hero collection is complete, but none of them factors into this unlock route — keep them on your to-do list, not your checklist for this set.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many pieces are in the Unyielding Hero armour set?

Five: the plate armour, boots, cloak, plate gloves, and plate helm. That matches the Patch 1.13 listing of the set as a five-piece outfit.

Do you need Chapter 6 to get the set?

Yes for the plate armour — it’s locked to the Chapter 6 mission “The Traitor” and unlocks when you beat that boss. The boots, cloak, gloves, and helm don’t need Chapter 6, but you can’t complete the full set without it.

Where do you get the Unyielding Hero helm?

From a secret back-alley vendor tucked into a town — it’s the only piece with no challenge attached, so you simply buy it once it’s in stock.

What should you do if a challenge reward does not appear?

Open the Journal’s Challenges tab and claim the reward manually — the objective completing doesn’t hand you the piece automatically. Then check your inventory and camp chest, where it should turn up.

Can you still do the cloak challenge if the hyena den is already cleared?

Yes. Near where you pick up the cloak artifact, a pack of about four hyenas normally spawns, so you can defeat three of them within the 20 m limit there instead of using the den below Toscalp.

More questions
Are all Unyielding Hero pieces bought from the vendor?

No. Only the helm is a straight vendor purchase. The armour comes from the Chapter 6 boss, and the boots, cloak, and gloves each come from an artifact challenge. Some reports claim the vendor stocks the whole set, but the dependable route treats only the helm as vendor-only.
