Unlocked LG G5 receives Android 7.0 Nougat update in US

The Nougat update for LG G5 started doing the rounds as early as November last year. It started with selected Korean G5 variants receiving the OS update followed by the roll out in other regions. In the US, the Sprint LG G5 users were the first to receive the Android Nougat update followed by other carriers. But the unlocked versions were left behind even till date.

But that changes now as users with unlocked LG G5 units in the US have reported receiving the Nougat update over the air. The update arrives as build number NRD0U and bumps up the software version to RS98821a.

The update, which weighs over 1300MB, installs the Android 7.0 Nougat OS on LG G5. It also tags along April security patch update. As it is being rolled out as an OTA, the notification for the update should soon appear on your device. Alternately you can check for it by heading to Settings > About device > System updates.

And as we always recommend, do keep two things in mind before hitting the download button. First thing is that your device should be at least 50 percent charged and secondly it should be connected to a WiFi network.
