The modular smartphone concept has been around for a few years, but we were not able to see a final prototype of the device going official. The Project Ara from Google changed this perspective and it is likely that these smartphones will be launched in select markets later this year.

While it might be tough to grab these modular smartphones soon after their launch, you can experience how it would be to use a Project Ara smartphone before it goes official. Well, you need to go to Kickstarter to get the nexpaq modular phone case.

The nexpaq modular phone case is available for high end devices such as Samsung Galaxy S5, Galaxy S6 Edge and Apple iPhone 6. This case will let you attach and detach physical modules from the back of the case without the necessity to power it down.

The team involved in the development of the nexpaq modular phone case has managed to create 12 modules such as LED flashlight, amplified speaker, extra battery, temperature and humidity gauges, SD card reader, breathalyzer, air quality gauge, a module to fill the unused slots, hotkeys, backup 64 GB SD card and USB flash drive. Interestingly, the nexpaq case will also come with a 1,000 mAh battery that will power the modules in the case.

The nexpaq cases will be completely compatible with the Android devices and iPhone 6. Some users might feel that these cases might be too bulky, but the added functionality is a great benefit that will outshine the weight of the case.

If you are interested in buying a nexpaq case for your smartphone, the firm has priced the case with four modules at $89. This is an introductory deal and later the case will be priced at $109. This Kickstarter campaign is applicable till May 30.
