Very well, since we’re doing a lot of talk today about the numbers game — about Google’s earnings and Android Activations — let’s hit upon the another number which in fact defines the success rate of an mobile OS to many — the number of apps in the application market. Google’s senior vice president of advertising, Susan Wojcicki, just let the word out that there are more than 250,000 app available in the market now. Happy?

Oh! some chat about the downloads too. Total number of app downloads (that includes everything you see in market: apps, games, LWP (live wallpapers), widgets, etc.) from the market has crossed whopping 6 million downloads. We also came to know that around 130 million android devices have shipped thus far (phones + tablets), which means we can have a rough figure of what are the average downloads per android device — and that’s 46, which is impressive too, you’re really enjoying the android market, aren’t you.

Oh! BTW, I hope you haven’t missed the all new Android Market app v3.0.26 (apk download/installation) which totally changes your market experience. All you need is a android device that’s running on Android 2.2 or above version. Apps are easy to find now and the UI has been revamped too, do give it a try and let us know your thoughts. Yep, the screenshot above is of the new Android market v 3.0.26 only.
