Motorola acquired by Lenovo will be announcing the third generation Moto X smartphone in the second half of this year. This information has been confirmed by the firm’s president. Also, Motorola has claimed that it has no plans to launch a tablet.
Well, Motorola’s President, Rick Osterloh confirmed that the firm will maintain an annual product cycle via an ‘Ask Me’ session on Twitter. By saying an annual product cycle, the executive hints at the launch of the next generation Moto X smartphone somewhere around September similar to the launch pattern followed in 2014 with the Moto X (Gen 2).
In response to a Twitter user’s query regarding a same time frame of launch as in the past two years for the Moto X, Osterloh replied that they will approximately maintain their annual cycle for all their offerings and not only the Moto X.
When questioned about the launch of a tablet, he replied that Motorola has not framed any plans in regards to the tablet space so far. He added that Lenovo has a lot of great slates in the market with the Yoga lineup. While its parent company is involved in the launch of capable tablets, Motorola might not enter the space in the near future.
As of now, there are no reports regarding the Moto X (Gen 3) smartphone. We can expect the speculations to start pouring out in the coming months as the launch time frame nears.
