T-Mobile rolls out new OTA update QI2 for Note 4 and Note Edge, fixes DTMF bug and installs September patch

galaxy note 4 update

T-Mobile has released new software updates for the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and the Note Edge. The updates were announced last month, but users are only seeing it arrive on their devices now. The Note 4 and Note Edge are pretty old devices, so it’s nice to see that they’re still being cared for.

The updates are nothing big, it’s just your regular security updates, and not even the latest ones for that matter. Upon installing the update, your device will receive the September Android security patch. Also, the DTMF related bug has been fixed in this update. The build number for the Note 4 is N910TUVU2EQI2 OR N910T3UVU3EQI2, and for the Note Edge it is N915TUVU2DQI2.

That’s about all you’ll get in this new update, which is still based on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. Sorry, no Nougat update for the Note 4 or the Note Edge. Last month, Sprint had rolled out a similar update for their variant of the Note 4.

If you are seeing this update on your T-Mobile Galaxy Note 4 or Note Edge, then we recommend you install it right away. Make sure your device is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network and has more than 50 percent charge.

Other Samsung devices have also been receiving security updates, the latest being the Galaxy Note 8 from AT&T. The Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ is also in the works.
