Sprint rolls out Android 9.0 for Galaxy S9 and S9+

Galaxy S9 Android Pie beta download

Everyone was caught off-guard when the underdog amongst U.S. carriers, Xfinity Mobile, became the first one amongst all to roll out Android 9 Pie update for Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+, a few days ago. Verizon quickly followed, and from what we hear, Sprint has sprint its way past the finishing line as well.

Although no official statement has been made, Redditors have stated that notifications for said software update have started popping up. The update is arriving over the air as version G960USQU3CSAB for the standard S9 and G965USQU3CSAB for the Plus variant.

Reports further suggest that the size of the update received isn’t fixed, and is a function of whether the user participated in testing out the beta program or not. File sizes of between 230MB to 1.9GB are the range within which the update will fall.

It is possible to manually check for the update in the System Update option in Settings. As always, the phone’s battery would need to be charged first or make sure its at least 50% charged before beginning the upgrade process.
