Sprint Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge devices are currently receiving a new security software update. This latest update brings a newer Android security patch and some other system improvements to the devices.
Remember, this is for the Sprint variants of the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge only. The update software version is G925PVPS4DQL2 and it’s available as an over-the-air download. Apart from installing the latest December Android security patch, there aren’t any other changes.
Of course, as this is a security update, it will also include under-the-hood system enhancements and bug fixes. Before installing the update, make sure your device has more than 50 percent charge and is connected to a stable Wi-Fi network. AT&T recently rolled out a similar update to the Galaxy S6 family as well.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are old devices now, and will most likely not be getting the Android Oreo update. These phones run on Android Nougat as of now and will remain on that. There were speculations that they might receive the Oreo update as Samsung may extend the software update cycle, but nothing concrete has surfaced yet.
