Sprint updated its Samsung devices — most of the popular ones anyway, if not all — a while ago, but it seems its HTC device’s turn now to get the same fix. The Stagefright bug is one of the worst bug to be found on Android OS, and it needs quick updates for sure on all popular handsets.
Luckily, carriers and OEMs are acting swiftly to fix Stagefright, and Sprint’s HTC Desire 816 is the latest Android device to grab one such update. Other HTC device, the One M9, also received the Stagefright update today at Rogers and Verizon, but — sorry Desire 816 owners! — was also accompanied by Android 5.1 code. Yep.
And that’s all about the update’s changelog. There is nothing else Sprint has said about the update, and it seems there is really nothing else the update would bring apart form fixing Stagefright bug.
If an OTA notification hasn’t made it to you Sprint Desire 816 yet, hit the ‘check for update’ button in Settings > About device > System update.
