Verizon HTC One Android 5.1 is out as full changelog becomes available

Yesterday, HTC let the word out that they will be rolling out the Verizon HTC One M9 Android 5.1 update today, and now Verizon has +1’ed it too. The official support page as Verizon now tells us that Android 5.1 update for its One M9 is live, and that it packs in host of new features, chief among them Factory reset protection.

Surely, Android 5.1 remains the big catch with the update, but it’s good to see several other new features like LTE on roaming and video calling getting a go now. And btw, this also fixes the Stagefright bug like all other updates these days.

If you haven’t received the OTA notification on your Verizon HTC One M9 yet, then try to force the update on your device now. Go to Settings > About device > System update, and tap on the ‘check for update’ button to make phone look for an OTA update.

Changelog:

  • OS upgrade to Android L 5.1
  • Factory reset protection: Lost or stolen devices will remain locked until you sign in with your Google account, even if reset to factory settings. Note: you must have a Google account on the device to automatically enable this feature and set a PIN, password or pattern screen lock
  • Enabling LTE roaming
  • Pre-loading Google Wallet
  • Enabling Video calling
  • Android Security Patch
