Sprint has released an update for its Samsung Galaxy Note 4, dubbed as PK1. Unfortunately, this has got nothing to do with Android 7.0 Nougat. The 341MB OTA N910PVPS4DPK1 build is a patch which includes increased device stability, bug fixes and other general performance improvements.
The Galaxy Note 4 update is now limited to security patches ever since it got Marshmallow. The closest the Note 4 has gotten to Nougat is through Cyanogenmod 14, but that’s still work in progress and provides an unstable alpha build. If you badly want to have a peek at Nougat and are willing to risk it, head over to our CM14 page.
Being over 2 years old, it is reasonable for Samsung to drop support for Note 4, even though it will upset on big chunk of its fans. But it’s good to see Samsung catering to Note 4 owners and ensuring stable and secure performance on the device.
While, Samsung has Nougat update available under the beta channel now, and Galaxy S7 is now beta testing it in China too. Once the Nougat beta for the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge is done, we can expect the stable update to release by December.
