Sprint Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 Spark get update to fix Stagefright bug

Today’s Stagefright update begins with Sprint devices such as Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 Spark (Triband edition, not a regular Sprint Galaxy S4), model no. SM-N900P and SPH-L720T respectively. The OTA update for Sprint Note 3 carries the build no of N900PVPUEOH1, while the same for Sprint Galaxy S4 Spark is L720TVPUCOH1.

If you own either of those two handsets, and haven’t received an OTA update notification yet, then be sure to force your phone to grab the update. For that, go to Settings > About device > Software update, and then tap on ‘check for update’ button. Let us know if you see any other improvements or visual changes.

Earlier, Sprint updated its HTC One M8 (with Harmon Kardon edition), some Nexus and Samsung devices to fix Stagefright vulnerability. While, AT&T yesterday pushed a similar update for its Galaxy S4 and S4 Active devices, hopefully their cousins at Sprint get similar update pretty soon too.

FYI, T-Mobile and Sprint lead the line when it came to roll out Stagefright fixer update, as both reacted way quicker than Verizon and AT&T in this regard. Even most the international variants — which have traditionally received updates first — are yet to receive the update that’s already been rolled out for devices belonging to these two carriers.
