Seems Sprint may soon be on its way to start rolling out the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean update to the LG Optimus G owners on its network, as one lucky user on XDA received the update today, pointing towards signs that the update may finally be ready.
The said XDA user managed to extract the update’s file and has shared it with the community, though manually installing it doesn’t seem to be working from other users’ reports. The update carries the software version LS970ZVB, and should bring the Sprint Optimus G on par with the Optimus G that has been launched in Europe and other regions this year with Android 4.1.2 out of the box.
With Android 4.1.2, users get some useful new functionality – expandable and actionable notifications, Google Now, smoother and faster performance thanks to “Project Butter” enhancements in Jelly Bean, better accessibility options, faster browser, and all-in-all a more uniform experience that should make LG’s flagship smartphone an even greater joy to use.
Sprint generally announces beforehand when an update is to be released, which hasn’t happened yet in the case of the Android 4.1.2 update for the Optimus G, so it is likely it will be a few more days before more users get it. We’ll be sure to let you know when the actual rollout begins, and keep our fingers crossed that it begins soon.
