How to Get Spotify DJ on PC

What to know

  • Spotify DJ is not available for PC for now (March 3rd, 2023), whether using the dedicated app or the web app.
  • But you can cast the songs DJ plays to your PC.
  • When DJ is playing songs, open the Spotify app or website on your PC. Next, on mobile, tap on the Cast button and select your PC.

Spotify DJ is the new AI-powered feature among the countless (?) AI assistants that launched recently. Not that we are complaining! Spotify DJ mixes tracks for you instantly, uses a popular voice model, and learns from your previous likes and dislikes. Spotify DJ can mix your previously liked tracks and playlists as well as suggest new tracks based on your taste.

The feature has been widely touted as an industry breaker, with many users claiming that they would hardly ever need a DJ in the future. If you, too, have been keeping up with the news, then you might have noticed that everyone seems to be using the new DJ feature on their mobile devices. So is there a way to access the DJ on Spotify’s desktop app or website? Yes. Let’s see to it.

How to get Spotify DJ on PC (Workaround)

Unfortunately, Spotify DJ isn’t available on desktop devices for now, whether using the web app or the dedicated desktop app. Thus you can’t use the DJ feature natively in the Spotify app. However, Spotify allows you to switch devices seamlessly as long as you have apps open on both. We can use this to our advantage and play DJ on desktop devices using the same. Follow the steps below to help you use Spotify DJ on your desktop device using a workaround.

Open the Spotify app on your device and tap Music at the top of your home page.

Now tap the play icon on your Spotify DJ card.

Once the DJ mix starts playing, open the Spotify web app using open.spotify.com or open the desktop app. Once opened, tap the cast icon in the mobile app in the bottom left corner.

Tap and select your desktop device. In my case, I am using the web app. Thus it shows up as a Web Player (Microsoft Edge). Once selected, the Spotify DJ mix will continue playing on your desktop device.

And that’s how you can use the Spotify DJ feature on your desktop device for now.
