The Sony Xperia ZL, the Xperia Z twin that lets go of the IP67 certification of the latter but comes with a hardware camera shutter button, might be on its way to the US very soon, as the Sony web store in the country has put up a page for the device.

The Xperia ZL packs a spec sheet similar to the Xperia Z except for the differences mentioned above, with a quad-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro processor ticking away inside in conjunction with 2GB of RAM. The 5-inch display taking up the front side sports a Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels (1080p), which makes it one of the sharpest displays out there with 441 ppi pixel density.

A 13-megapixel camera can be found on the back of the device, capable of 1080p video recording, and a 2-megapixel camera takes care of all your video chat and self-portrait needs. The Xperia ZL is also one of the few Android devices that sport a hardware shutter button for the camera, which is a tradition that has fallen by the wayside except on Windows Phone, on which Microsoft (rightly) makes it a requirement.

The rest of the specs include 16GB built-inch storage, a microSD slot capable of supporting up to 32GB cards, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, HSPA 42mbps, LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and GPS connectivity, a large 2,370 mAh battery, and Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean, with an upgrade to Android 4.2 promised by Sony soon after launch.

Interestingly, Sony has also listed a red colour option of the Xperia ZL, which looks to be quite a stunner and should be a great alternative to the usual black and white colour options. The price and actual availability date aren’t mentioned yet, but the coming soon status should soon change now that Sony has made the listing official.

Excited?
