Sony has been assuring the users of its Xperia Z lineup of smartphones that the devices will be receiving the Android 5.1 Lollipop update sometime this year. Now, the Australian service provider Telstra has posted a list of the Xperia Z smartphones that will be receiving the update.
The Android 5.0 Lollipop update started rolling out to the Xperia Z lineup of devices starting from March. The handsets that are slated to get the Android 5.1 Lollipop update include Sony Xperia Z, Xperia Z1 and Xperia Z1Â Compact that were launched in 2013. It is specified that the update will arrive on these smartphones in August.
There was a showstopper issue in the update this month and this delayed the roll out of the same. Telstra has not revealed anything about the bug in the build, but it is likely to be the previously claimed memory leak issue.
If you own one of the Xperia Z smartphones mentioned above, you can get it updated to the Android 5.1 Lollipop in the coming months. However, it is not known when the update will be pushed to the devices in the other markets.
