Snapdragon 835 was announced only recently by Qualcomm, which uses Samsung’s 10nm tech to brings us a better processor, that will be the heart of many upcoming flagships in year 2017, like Galaxy S8, HTC 11, etc.
Today, we got wind of yet another Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset, which would replace the 650 SoC as the choice of Android phones right below the premium-end segment, like the Galaxy C-series, HTC One A-series, etc. also also the choice of weapon for many Chinese OEMs.
We’re talking about the Snapdragon 660 processor, that is scheduled for release in Q2 2017, as can be seen from the leaked screenshot above in Chinese.
The Snapdragon 660 SoC is an oct-core processor, which used 14nm LPP tech, sports Kyro kernel to get you performance of 4 cores at 2.2GHz frequency, while other 4 cores at 1.9GHz. It’s a MSM8976 Plus processor chip, that will also support in full UFS2.1, a storage type we currently find on Huawei Mate 9 (powered by Kirin 960 processor), which indeed results in visibly better performance.
The GPU chip on Snapdragon 660 looks to be Adreno 512, which will be able to support screen resolution of up top Quad HD, or 2K, that translates into 2560×1400 pixels while it would be able to support upto 8gigs of RAM.
The 660 processor would support up to 24MP camera, as 30FPS, will support for up to Cat 10 LTE is rumored.
