The fishing puzzle in Slayer 2 has three stages: a hidden ledge, a ghost fisherman’s request, and a waterfall fishing spot. The prize adds equipment to your possible catches, and if you already own a Basic Fishing Rod, you can begin at the first puzzle location.

Fishing puzzle rewards and bonuses

You receive the Drowned Lure during the opening stage, then the rod and title together at the finish. The Drowned Lure isn’t consumed when you fish, so you can reuse it without replacing it.

Rod, bait and title stats

The rod’s bite speed reduces your wait for bites, while its cast radius lets you reach farther. Fish remain in the catch pool, so getting access to equipment doesn’t turn every catch into gear.

Unlock fishing and get the Basic Fishing Rod

Your starting point is the fishing permit quest at Mistfall Harbor. Dock Master Sofen handles permission to fish; Fisherman Jeso is the rod vendor at the Mistfall Harbor docks. Completing the permit quest opens the rod purchase.

Catch Drowned Lure near the red bridge

The first fishing spot lies on a small cliff ledge opposite that waterspout near the red bridge. The world map shows Mistfall Harbor along with its bridges and waterways, helping you get your bearings before entering the river. You can buy a location clue from Sofen, but the purchase is optional.

This stage uses the Basic Fishing Rod at night. Before your first cast, the bait slot needs attention.

Receiving Drowned Lure marks the end of this stage. Keep it even if you have another bait with better stats; it has a role in the final stretch.

Collect Isao’s fish and complete the nighttime hand-in

Legendary Fisherman Isao is the ghost beneath the red bridge, beside the cliff wall. He appears only at night, so daylight means waiting until the following night to meet him.

His requested species, Krathulon and Crustadon, are both Legendary deepwater fish. The Basic Fishing Rod restriction ends after the lure stage, and bait is allowed during collection. The Basic rod has a Common catch tier and limited deepwater reach, making this the point to consider an upgrade.

The Rare Fishing Rod reaches better catches that the Basic rod usually misses. It has 1.5x bite speed, +40 cast radius, a 95% listed catch chance, a Rare catch tier and +0.39 fish luck. Golden Fish, which have Rare rarity, serve as payment toward that upgrade.

Fish Head is Rare consumable bait meant for a rod capable of better catches. It has stats of 0.5x bite speed, 10% listed catch chance and +0.1 fish luck; resolving the line consumes it. Chests can also provide another bait option, Golden Tentacle.

Other catches can earn Yen or supply cooking and side quests. Keep the requested fish and any Golden Fish reserved for the rod upgrade out of that spending pile.

The fish hand-in earns Isao’s final location clue. His conversation also advances the puzzle toward the waterfall stage.

Find the waterfall ledge and catch the Legendary Fishing Rod

Isao’s clue describes a tree extending over a ledge. The final catch is random: the rod can arrive quickly or take additional attempts, and no fixed catch count guarantees it.

How to complete the fishing puzzle in Slayer 2

Work through the permit quest, the harbor ledge and Isao’s request before fishing at the waterfall.

Unlock fishing at Mistfall Harbor

Begin the fishing permit quest by speaking to Dock Master Sofen near the shrine at the docks.

Complete Sofen’s fetch quest

Retrieve the requested quest item and return it to Sofen to obtain your fishing permit.

Buy the Basic Fishing Rod

Purchase the Basic Fishing Rod from Fisherman Jeso for 3,500 Yen.

Keep your starting rod

Retain the Basic Fishing Rod even after upgrading, because the opening puzzle stage requires it.

Find the Drowned Lure ledge

Head toward the waterspout near the red bridge, swimming past the bridge pillars toward it.

Climb opposite the waterspout

Climb the rocky cliff wall onto the small ledge across the water from the spout.

Set up for the nighttime catches

Select the Basic Fishing Rod in your inventory once it is night, with the bait reminder above handled before casting.

Complete five successful catches

Fish from this ledge for five successful catches during nighttime. Finish each fishing minigame; throwing out the line alone does not count.

Find your Drowned Lure

Search your inventory for Drowned Lure after the fifth completed catch. If it hasn’t arrived, check the exact ledge, whether night has ended and your selected rod, then revisit the bait reminder.

Begin Isao’s fish request

Swim beneath the red bridge at night and speak to Legendary Fisherman Isao beside the cliff wall.

Track both requested species

Collect two Krathulon and two Crustadon, four fish total, from deep water. Extra copies of one species cannot replace the other, so track which fish you still need.

Consider the Rare Fishing Rod upgrade

Buy the optional Rare Fishing Rod from Fisherman Jeso for five Golden Fish plus 10,000 Yen to improve your setup for the collection stage.

Retain the quest catches

Keep the required Krathulon and Crustadon in your inventory as you catch them.

Hand the fish to Isao at night

Return beneath the red bridge at night carrying all four requested fish and hand them to Isao. Follow the dialogue reminder before leaving.

Find the final waterfall fishing spot

Leave the bridge through the river and follow it downstream toward the first main drop.

Descend the first main drop

Go down the first main river drop, then continue past the smaller waterfall farther along.

Climb beside the tree on the right

At the next main waterfall, look right for the tree and climb onto its rocky, grassy ledge overlooking the falls.

Cast into the water below

After handling the Drowned Lure equipment reminder, cast from the ledge into the water beneath it and finish a catch.

Watch for Isao’s location cue

Look at the lower-left for “This is the place. Twenty years I’ve watched it.” after the first successful catch. This acknowledges the correct location and registered puzzle progress.

Troubleshoot a missing cue

If the dialogue doesn’t appear, check your position on the ledge and revisit the hand-in and bait reminders before continuing.

Keep fishing for the rod

Once the cue appears, continue fishing from the same spot until you catch the Legendary Fishing Rod. Additional attempts alone don’t mean your setup is wrong.

Watch for the title award

Catching the rod also displays “Title unlocked: Legendary Fisherman”.

Activate the title bonuses

Open Titles, select Legendary Fisherman and equip it to activate its bonuses.

Use your new fishing setup

Fish with the Legendary Fishing Rod and Drowned Lure for equipment and other catches.

Lost equipment you can catch with the Legendary Fishing Rod

You can fish up the Lost Shotgun, Lost Mask, Lost Lantern, Lost Cape and Lost Outfit. All five are Mythic. Before you start chasing a piece, open the Archive to check its stats and decide what you want to pursue; fishing is one way to get them, but each has another acquisition method.

Lost gear stats and acquisition methods

That 95% listed catch chance is not a 95% equipment drop rate, so you’ll still need to keep fishing for the piece you want.
