Finding the Ward W Master Key is one of the more important small detours in the Medical Centre – Different section of Silent Hill Townfall. Although the key itself is easy to pick up once you reach the correct room, getting there means carefully navigating Ward W while a dangerous monster patrols the area.
The key becomes particularly important because it opens Room 18, allowing you to climb into Ward S and retrieve Lesley Greer’s Blood Bag, which is required for progressing with the Blood Transfusion Machine.

Silent Hill Townfall Ward W Master Key location
Ward W is located on the lower floor of the Medical Centre – Different. The Ward W area is also patrolled by a large monster, so simply running directly toward the objective can put you in danger.

The safest approach is to treat the central structures and pillars as cover. Move between them when the monster is positioned away from your route, then continue around the outer hallway. The objective is not to defeat the monster but to use the environment to break its line of sight and reach the correct room.
Room W04 is positioned along the outer portion of Ward W. Keep following the hallway until you see the room number displayed above the door.
How to get the Ward W Master Key in Silent Hill Townfall
Step 1: Enter Ward W
Make your way into the Ward W section of the Medical Centre – Different. Once inside, take a moment to identify the central structures and the surrounding hallway.
The monster patrols this area, so avoid unnecessarily crossing open sections while it is nearby.

Step 2: Use the pillars as cover
Move around the large central pillars and other structures to stay out of the monster’s direct path. Wait for an opening if necessary rather than rushing across the room.
You do not need to fight the monster to obtain the key. The important part of this section is reaching W04 without getting caught.
Step 3: Follow the outer hallway
Once you have an opening, work your way around the outside of the Ward W section.
Keep checking the room numbers above the doors as you progress. You are looking specifically for Room W04.
Step 4: Enter Room W04
Approach the door marked W04 and enter the room.
Once inside, closing the door behind you gives you a safer space to search without immediately having to deal with the monster in the hallway.

Step 5: Search the desk
Move toward the desk/table near the back portion of the room.
The Ward W Master Key is sitting on top of the desk. Interact with it to add the key to your inventory. Guides for the Medical Centre sequence consistently place the key in Room 04 on the lower floor of Ward W.
At this point, you have the key required to open several previously locked doors in Ward W.

How to use the Ward W Master Key
The most important use of the key is opening Room 18. This is where the key changes from being an optional exploration item into a major progression item.
Room 18 contains a ladder that connects Ward W’s lower area to the upper portion of Ward S. From there, you can reach Room 12 and obtain Lesley Greer’s Blood Bag.
| Door/area | What the key provides |
|---|---|
| Room 18 | Opens the route to the ladder |
| Upper Ward S | Allows access through the ladder from Room 18 |
| Room 12 | Leads to Lesley Greer’s Blood Bag |
| Room 06 | Optional exploration and Strange Postcard |
| Room 13 | Additional Ward W exploration |
How to use the key for optional Ward W rooms
The Ward W Master Key is not limited to the main progression route. It can also be used to explore additional locked rooms.

One particularly useful door is Room 06. Opening this room gives you access to a Strange Postcard collectible. The Ward W postcard is specifically listed as a collectible found inside Room 06 after using the Master Key.
Room 13 is another locked Ward W location that requires the Master Key. Opening it contributes to your exploration of the area and can provide additional resources.
If you’re trying to collect everything during your playthrough, it is therefore worth remembering that getting the Master Key does more than simply advance the Blood Transfusion objective.
How the Master Key fits into the Blood Transfusion sequence
Once you have Lesley Greer’s Blood Bag, return to the Blood Transfusion Machine area.
The Blood Bag is inserted into the appropriate empty slot on the machine. Activating the mechanism then allows you to progress into the next section, where additional Blood Bags become part of the continuing objective.
This makes the Ward W Master Key an important link in the overall puzzle rather than a simple room-opening item.
