Samsung’s Galaxy A series took a different turn at the beginning of this year when the much-anticipated Galaxy A5 2018 and A7 2018 turned out to be the Galaxy A8 and A8+. Why Samsung took this decision is still unknown to us to-date, but it seems the Korean company has had something to regret about and the result is that there’s a new Samsung Galaxy A7 2018 in town.
Galaxy A7 2018 specs
- 6-inch 18.5:9 FHD+ Super AMOLED display
- 2.2GHz octa-core processor
- 4GB or 6GB RAM
- 64GB or 128GB expandable storage
- Tri-lens 24MP + 8MP + 5MP main camera
- 24MP front camera
- 3300mAh battery
- Android 8.0 Oreo
- Extras: Bluetooth 5.0, USB-C, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, face unlock, NFC, Samsung Pay, 3.5mm audio jack, etc.
The Galaxy A7 2018 becomes the first from the company to rock a tri-lens camera system on the back and also the first in this price range. The device’s 8MP lens on the main setup is meant to capture ultra-wide shots of up to 120 degrees while the 24MP and 5MP lenses are meant to bring in bokeh effects. Samsung says you can control how smooth or blurry the background gets when taking the shot or after it’s saved in the gallery.
The A7 2018 continues Samsung’s Infinity Display technology with a 6-inch Super AMOLED panel and under the hood, we get an unnamed octa-core processor clocked at 2.2GHz, probably a Snapdragon 660 or maybe Exynos 7885. This is then paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and two storage options of 64GB and 128GB, although not all variants might be sold at your local shop.

Samsung went for a side-mounted fingerprint scanner like what we see on the Moto Z3 family for “easier and more secure” authentication, but you can also use face recognition technology for the same purpose.
With the phone having been launched in Korea today, Samsung says it will be available in global markets beginning early October. The company will hold “A Galaxy Event” event in Malaysia on October 11, which is when we’ll get to know the official pricing of the device. Still, it has been mooted that the phone’s price in Europe will be about €350, but we’ll have to wait and see.
The Galaxy A7 2018 will be sold in Blue, Black, Gold and Pink.
