Samsung to Launch Galaxy Note 10.1 at MWC?

While Samsung did announce earlier, that it will not be launching the much awaited Galaxy S3 at Mobile world Congress or MWC later this month, an official Samsung invitation sent out to developers for the Samsung Developers Day at MWC, seems to clearly indicate, an interesting new device hitherto unheard of — A Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1!!

Given the immense popularity of the original Galaxy Note, further solidified by sheer number of units sold, it would be natural to expect a successor, but a 10.1″ device seems to be overkill, considering Samsung’s recently launched tablet lineup. The invitation also indicates that Samsung would be exhibiting the S Pen SDK and the Bada 2.0 SDK, along with the devices mentioned therein, including the Galaxy Note 10.1. The folks over at TheVerge also happened to do some checking up on their own, and came across a casting call for a Samsung commercial (also included in the screen shot above) inviting auditions for a teen student who will use Galaxy Note 10.1 to record, take pictures etc. That’s two strikes, and does not seem like a mistake at all, that too from a giant like Samsung.

Considering the original Note was launched as a hybrid device, which many felt was ideal because of its more portable form factor than the original Galaxy Tab 7″ or the much larger Galaxy Tab 10.1″,  if Samsung does indeed launch a 10.1″ Galaxy Note, it would be interesting to see how it distinguishes between the new Note and the Galaxy Tab 10.1″.

Do you think a 10 inch Note would really shake the market, which is already overcrowded with similar sized devices? Or do you think this was all a simply typo? Keep the gossip mills buzzing, and let us know your thoughts in comments below.
