We’ve seen rumors, and even pictures, of the Galaxy S4 Mini, which Samsung is expected to launch after the Galaxy S4 as a successor to the Galaxy S3 Mini. Now, we may have official confirmation on the device’s existence from Samsung’s Lee Keon Hyok (Senior Vice President).
In an interview with Bloomberg, Hyok said “the Galaxy S 4 doesn’t come out until late April. It’s fast, has a big, bright screen, and will probably be another huge hit for Samsung, as will the S4 mini that will go on sale soon after.” Notice that he mentions the Galaxy S4 Mini will also be a hit, which gives me reason to believe the S4 Mini might not be as much of a downgrade as the S3 Mini was, increasing its chances of finding success worth bragging about.
KnowYourMobile also has a few details for the Galaxy S4 Mini – they mention that the smartphone will sport an 8-megapixel camera with HD video recording, a front-facing camera on unknown resolution, 1GB of RAM, 8/16/32GB storage along with a microSD slot, and cost around £300/$450.
Meanwhile, there was also speculation that the S4 Mini might sport a quad- or dual-core Exynos 5210 processor, a new chipset found to be under development by Samsung. The device is supposed to run on the latest version of Android – Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean – similar to the Galaxy S4, on a 4.3″ Super AMOLED display of qHD resolution.
Thanks to the casual confirmation by the SVP, we know the Galaxy S4 Mini surely exists, though that’s something we weren’t denying in the first place. As for specs, those are something we won’t be sure of until we get some concrete proof, which should hopefully come soon.
The Galaxy S4 Mini is expected to be released in June or July.
