We have all the surveys and financial reports showing how Samsung is rapidly losing the budget Smartphone market in developing countries like India, and yet the Korean electronics giant seem to be playing it stupid by launching devices like Galaxy J1 at a price point that just couldn’t stand the competition.
Samsung is set to release its latest low-end budget offering Galaxy J1 in India tomorrow for a price of INR 7,190 ($115). While this price sounds reasonable for a budget device, if you look at the specifications of Galaxy J1, you might could not help but think “Really, how much stupid is that?”
The Samsung Galaxy J1 comes with 512MB RAM, 4.3-inch WVGA display, 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 4GB internal storage (expandable) and 1850 mAh battery. The device comes with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, and knowing Samsung, it shall stay at the same version of Android till the end of its life.
Now, Samsung is offering all that cheapness for a price of INR 7,190 ($115), which is the same price (even less in some cases) for which other established manufacturers are offering 1GB RAM, quad-core CPU, 8GB internal storage and a slightly more battery power. And also the latest version of Android, Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Seriously Samsung, get affordable if you want to stay in the market.
Anyway, we did this story only to warn you to NOT buy this phone. The device will go on sale tomorrow at Amazon India.
