Samsung rules out Galaxy S8 red tint display defect

All was going well with Samsung’s flagship phones Galaxy S8 and S8+ post its release until reports about the former showing a red tint on the display emerged. Reacting to the issue, Samsung has issued a statement dismissing the complaint.

Samsung released its first-quarter earnings report during which it made a conference call claiming that the Galaxy S8 has undergone thorough inspection to ensure product quality. This clearly means that the Korean giant has refused to accept the fact that some Galaxy S8 display panels are showing a red tint.

In the words of Samsung:

Due to the nature of Super AMOLED displays, there can be natural differences in color. Users can optimize the color depending on their preferences.

However, last week Samsung did clarify that it will soon roll out a new software update to Galaxy S8 which will ‘allow users to better optimize display colors to reflect their own preferences’.

Complaints against Galaxy S8 started pouring in when users took to online platform to complain of a reddish tint appearing on the display panels of their new phones which, according to the users, remained despite correcting the color display settings.

  1. Oh … I thought that the update would simply fix the tint issue .So I guess it can be fixed by adjusting the settings after the update ?

  2. Let’s see if the software update really helps minimizing the tint.

  3. that’s a drawback of AMOLED screen, whites aren’t as white as LED display and Blacks on LED aren’t as black as on AMOLED, so it’s just came to personal preferences, u can always adjust the display setting in AMOLED display for better whites and punchier colors, it’s not actually Samsung’s fault but they r doing their best to minimize the red tint issue and that’s good!!

  5. Going with them then, they should just release an update with an option to revert back to the default color settings. If Samsung says so, they must have enough data to back themselves.

  7. Well, if they are confidently giving this statement at a time like this when they have so much to lose, then I would believe them. They will have looked into the issue and made sure before settling this as a rule out.
