After the Galaxy A5 2017 and Galaxy A3 2017, Samsung has now started rolling out Android 8.0 Oreo to their counterpart, the Galaxy A7 2017. Normally, it would have been the other way, where the A7 2017 would have led the trio in receiving the OS, but Samsung can be full of surprises, you know!
Nevertheless, the Galaxy A7 2017 has been reported to have started receiving Android Oreo in Vietnam, which is a change of events given that the update first rolled out to the A5 and A3 2017 in Russia and we expected the same for the A7 2017.
According to SamMobile, which first reported about the update, the new software has version number A720FXXU3CRD3 and besides installing Oreo, it also brings this month’s Android security patches. However, like any other OTA update, it will be available in stages, probably based on regions and thus, we can’t really tell which market will be next to receive Oreo on the Galaxy A7 2017.
It’s a little strange to see the Galaxy A 2017 series receive Oreo ahead of the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge, but if age is anything, the former deserves this treat. On the contrary, the flagship status of the S7 pair should have meant something to Samsung, but it’s clear it didn’t!
Still, the Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge are expected to start receiving Android Oreo in the coming weeks, probably before the end of this month or in early May, but other markets may have to wait until late May to join the party.
