Multiple Samsung Galaxy devices are receiving a new update with the latest Android security patch for the month of October 2018.
The Korean company has stepped up its game when it comes to monthly security updates, where it has been sending OTA updates to devices in all categories, including tablets. The latest wave targets the high-end Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S7 pair, the midrange Galaxy A8 2018 pair, Galaxy A7 2017 and Galaxy A6, the budget Galaxy J3 and Galaxy On7 Prime as well as the aging Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2016 LTE tablet.
The Note 8 update has software version N950FXXS5CRJ1 while the S7 and S7 Edge are on the receiving end of firmware versions G930W8VLS5CRJ1 and G935W8VLS5CRJ1 – a target for Canadian users.

If you own the Galaxy A8 2018, the update is arriving as version A530FXXU3BRI4 while the A8+ 2018 is receiving an update with firmware version A730FXXU3BRJ4. The same October patch is arriving on the Galaxy On7 Prime as software version G611FXXU1BRI6 while the Galaxy A6 is receiving it as version A600FNXXS3ARJ3. Those using the Galaxy J3 2017 can look forward to firmware version J330FNXXS3BRJ1 while the A7 2017 family can expect an update that installs software version A720FXXU6CRJ5.

Last but not least, the Galaxy Tab A 10.1 2016 is on the receiving end of software version T585XXS4BRI1 and like the rest, it’s an OTA update that will take a few days before registering on all units.
