South Korean OEM, Samsung, has started rolling out an update for the Galaxy Note 9. The update release note does not specify any additional, vaguely describing the contents of the update. While we are not sure about supplementary features, we know for certain that the OTA brings the August 2019 security patch.
Samsung has already refreshed its Note lineup with the releases of the Note 10 and Note 10 Plus. As a result, Note 9 has been pushed down the pecking order. But thankfully, Samsung isn’t pulling the plug, at least, not in the near future.
The OTA carries software version N960U1UEU2CSH2 and weighs in at 691MB. The size is pretty enormous for only a security update, so, there could indeed be a couple of hidden gems in the package.
As it’s an incremental rollout, it could be a while before your Note 9 gets the automatic update notification. To check for it manually, go to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Repeat the process a couple of times if you don’t get the update the first time.
Samsung will bring the Android 10 update first to its 2019 flagships, the S10 and Note 10 lineup. The Note 9 will not get the update in the first wave, alongside its successors, but is in line to receive it in the second wave — weeks after the first rollout.
