As promised, Samsung has officially announced the launch date of its upcoming flaghship smartphone Galaxy S8 yesterday at a pre-MWC event in Barcelona. The date booked for the Galaxy S8 release is March 29th (yeah, this date popped up in past leaks many a times!) and the venue, or rather venues are New York and London. So, that makes it a multiple city event launch.
In a short video teaser, Samsung alongside the launch date offered a glimpse of the Galaxy S8 as well. The 32-second teaser traces the history of smartphones from, as early as the 1980s when they looked more like a bulky box, to the recent times. The video shows an image of Galaxy S8 showing edge-edge display and minimum top and bottom bezels. The captions ‘Unbox Your Phone’ followed by ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ ends the video.

The teaser gives us a fair idea about the screen-to-body ratio of Samsung Galaxy S8 and shows the absence of a physical home button on the front.

So March 29th is the date when Galaxy S8 will be unveiled. And if a past rumor is to be believed, the eighth-gen S-series smartphone will go on sale from April 21st globally. Mark your calendar buds!
Meanwhile, a number of OEMs have already launched their key products at the MWC 2017. Mention may be made of LG G6, Moto G5/ G5 Plus, Blackberry KEYone, Huawei P10/ P10 Plus and three Nokia phones.
