Get the info on all kinds of recent and upcoming updates for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus here. Whether you are looking for info on monthly security patch or night mode update or wondering when Android 10 update will be out for the S9 sets along with One UI 2.0, we have got every bit covered here.
As the updates for Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus carry the same build no. (they change only by their respective model no.), we are using only the last four letters as the software version in the ‘update timeline’ table below. For your info, the Galaxy S9 Plus comes as model no. SM-G965 while the standard Galaxy S9 comes with model no. SM-G960.
One UI 2.1
Samsung uses a custom skin on top of Google’s stock Android called the One UI. Not only does it change the overall look and feel of the devices, but it also introduces a host of features that Google’s stock iteration lack. Recently, Android 10-based was released for the Galaxy S9 duo, and there were whispers that One UI 2.1 — the ROM Galaxy S20 came with — would also become available in due time.
Sadly, a recent notification sent through the Samsung Members app in South Korea has killed the rumor in its crib. As per the notification, Samsung isn’t working on One UI 2.1 for the 2018 flagships at the time, and a future release seems unlikely.
Android 10 update
Let’s discuss whether Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus are eligible for Android 10 and if yes, when can we expect the Android 10 update to begin rolling out for the 2018 flagships.
